My deepest condolences to your family for your loss. Recently, I attended a Back To Broadway show at ZACH Theatre. Act II included a tribute to Jonathan. I didn’t know him, but 2 minutes into the presentation, my heart was completely shattered. It took me that long to realize that Jonathan was not just missing from the production but that he was no longer here.  The tribute was heartfelt and I hope you all had a chance to view it, if you couldn’t attend. Immediately after leaving the show, I googled Jonathan Macedo and found this obituary.  This tab had been open for 3 weeks as I tried to find my words. You never left my thoughts and prayers. I have 3 sons and one of them reminds me a lot of your Jonathan. ☀️ I feel like he could brighten any day or a room just by being in it. 💕I just wanted to drop in and say that I feel that I know Jonathan’s spirit and he seemed like a bright ray of light. My thoughts and prayers are with you  as you heal through this loss . 🙏🏼  

I was Jonathan's voice teacher in high school. To say he was a hard worker, would be an understatement. He was like a sponge! He wanted to learn EVERYTHING, and couldn't do it fast enough. He was passionate, he was humble, he was generous and supportive of others, and he was so appreciative for absolutely everything. We kept in touch while he was in LA, and I was so incredibly excited for him, and everything that he was learning and soaking up! He'd post about movies, and music, and actors that he admired. He, as a person, and as an artist, was just starting to fly! I am devastated that we lost him, but I KNOW he's still watching, and dancing, and singing with all of us! I'll miss him forever. 💔

Putting this into words makes everything real & more true. That's the hard part for myself, that as the days go by, this is now the reality we have to accept. A world without you physically being here, because I know that no matter what, you're always here with us. The first day I met you, Jon, I had heard your name a thousand times before, it would be followed with a "I wish Jon was here", it just showed how you make everything better. I got to witness that. The night I met you, I was nervous & excited, I would finally get to meet the famous Jon. I understood why everyone wished you were with them at all times. Any room you stepped in, you'd complete it. You walked in that night to Lyssa's backyard with your navy, white little designed button up shirt, black jeans, & your famous/iconic red bandana. Well all your bandana's are iconic, the red one just stood out the most to me.  Jon you have & brought, this energy that radiates to everyone around you & influences anyone/everyone to live in the moment, make the best of it, & just genuinely be happy to be alive. Your ability to push all of us to follow our dreams and believe in ourselves, that's priceless. You just weren't one to ever give up. You pushed through no matter what & always found a way to make something happen for the better. To me, you always reminded me that I was beautiful in every way & to never let anyone have me second guess that, to follow my dreams regardless of where I came from, I could do it. Every time we spoke you always had something new to talk to me about, also updating me on how your journey was going. You made me so proud every time you'd update me, but how could I ever not be proud? Man you could walk to just the corner & I'd be proud you walked, everything you did, you did it with a joy & grace that is so hard to come across. You were genuinely genuine. The way you respected anyone & everyone, always saw everyone as an equal, always maintained yourself so humble...I love you always.

Oh Jonathan... how I wish time and this life could be forever!! Seems like just yesterday we were in middle school living so freely without a glimpse of the real world, but if I only know those would be some of the last years together - I would’ve never let go. Jonathan, you truly were a great friend. I thank you for showing me to reach for the stars and believe in myself !! You are a inspiration to me, no matter what the room setting even in a set up where you were meant to be overshadowed, you’ve always managed to be the STAR of the show! No matter what, you made sure to show up and show out, everytime! Against all odds, you prevailed! You shown them girls up everytime!!! Lol If Only I could see you dance or act a scene out one more time so passionate Jon, you will be truly missed! I’m forever proud of you, you went out and chased your dreams with all your heart and in this life, that’s all we all may ever have. The pursuit of happiness..... I love you Jonathan and I’ll never forget the love or memories we shared. You’ll always be sweet Jonathan from paredes that loved jumpoline on the weekends with braces to me. Jonn was the only person I could never beat in an argument. You were the funniest and kindest soul I’ve ever met. Always taking everyone out of their comfort zone <3  ily forever macedo.

What a light Jonathan was, though we weren't cousins by blood he was like my little cousin.  We always had such a great time every time he was around, he was kind, funny and so outgoing, an admirable kid that always achieved what he put his mind to.  We are always going to miss him, wherever you are I hope you're dancing and flying high, it's not a goodbye it's a see you later.

I’ve been dreading on looking at anything on social. Where do I even start. Jon was one of my very best friends. Every time I left from hanging out with him I always wanted to try something new. He always reminded me that I don’t give myself enough credit. he always reminded me that I’m better than I put myself out to be. He was so hungry to live. He had goals and dreams. And he did whatever he had to just to get closer to it. He would show up to my house if I wasn’t answering because I was too sad. He would always Pull me out of a dark. I’m glad that the last time I saw him I returned the favor. Obviously not as much as he did which I always will regret but when I was there he definitely needed to be taken care of and I was more than happy to do. I will never forget him taking me to universal studios and curing some childhood trauma. Omg I was so happy just to be with him too he kept apologizing for us not doing a lot but I just wanted to chill with him because I missed him so much. I’m gonna stop here bc I can go on forever. My heart aches so much that idk how I’m gonna heal from this one. But I will live everyday for you Jon. I love you and miss you like crazy baby boy. I just wanna one last hug.

Oh Jonathan, words can’t describe how much i love and miss you, you made such a huge impact in my life no matter how much time we had, the advice and talks you would give me will always stick with me i’m doing this for you, because i know everything i do you always believe and pushed me to do my best, i’m so grateful my older brother introduced me to you , you always treated me like your little sister your ‘hermanita’ like you would say , you will forever be my older brother at heart because i know your with all of us, thank you for being the most amazing person to me , my brother and all of our friends and family. you were truly amazing , everything you did never went unnoticed you are so talented with the most purest heart, with the most biggest smile. the most powerful man i’ve ever encountered , you did it all jon, i know your looking down on all of us and i know your protecting us. cómo nos faltas y cómo te extrañamos, keep shining my beautiful star your so amazing, te quiero mucho jonathan 🤍.

Jonathan I dont have the words to express the pain your departure has left. But you don’t know how much I appreciate and will cherish these last couples year you where like our other roommate our little brother. The way you felt so comfortable here with us and was truly happy. You have taught me that we can do anything we set our minds too and with enough courage and dedication we’ll get there. You were truly the bravest person I have met to not let anything get in you way. I’ll never forget the night you told us how comfortable we made you and that Is a memory that I will never erase from my heart it was one of the dearest memories I hold. You were gone too soon but I’m sure you will still keep shining watching down on us. Descansa en paz Primito te quiero mucho. 

Jonathan, you are gone too soon.  We loved having you be part of our extended family….you were always a bright light, funny, talented, handsome, smart….a beautiful, perfect son and brother. And cherished friend.  You will be missed more than any words can ever adequately describe, in any language.   You will remain in our hearts, always, until our paths rejoin.   My love and wishes for healing to all who mourn.  

So thankful to have known him. He will be deeply missed!

Recuerdo cómo si fuera hoy. El día que Ana mi hermana, me habló y me dio la noticia que estaba embarazada, y me dijo dice el médico que posiblemente el bebé sea especial. Still find it hard to believe that you are no longer physically here with us but FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS.  You were such a wonderful human being and being in the same room as you was just so electrifying. You had such big power to light up a room as soon as you entered. There was never a time where you weren’t positive and making everyone laugh. I am grateful to have had you in my life, being so young you taught me to always keep trying for our dreams and living life to the fullest.  You achieved so much and had such an impact on peoples lives, our heart aches with you gone ;(  for ever will miss you and will always love you! Ya descansa mi Jonathan. 

I am out in LA chasing my dream just as well as Jonathan was. We were working at Joeys one day and I asked him “are you trying to be an actor” and he told me, “I am an actor” and that right there gave me inspiration I didn’t realize I already had. I know he was really determined and passionate about what he was chasing and had a very bright soul. I know he would’ve been a star, as he already was as a person already. I guess my message is that he was an inspiration to all and carried energy with him like no other and I know that will live with me forever. I’m blessed I got the opportunity to meet him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and may they stay strong through these times ❤️

I only worked with Jonathon for a short amount of time but in that short time I learned SO much about him and his family. He often expressed how thankful he was for having all sisters, because he said his sisters helped him know how to cope with emotions. He loved his mama, and would also say how his dad was such a caring dad and not the stereotypical Hispanic dad lol. I adore the way he talked about his family. When I seen we worked a shift together I’d be SO RELIEVED I was going to have a fun shift. I truly loved him so much. Someone I knew in such a short time made such a big impact on me.

I forgot to add that Jonathan would take funny pictures and videos on my phone when I wasn’t around since I left it in the back area of the restaurant, where we would frequently go to throughout our shift. We never really had an opportunity to take a picture together, which I regret, but at least I have pictures like this to look back on. He was the first person to ever do that on my phone at work and I’m forever grateful he did. And I’m forever grateful for him being himself, because he was really perfect the way he was.

I only knew Jonathan for four months, as his coworker. And it’s safe to say that he was a better friend to me than some people I have known for years. It’s true what they say, every single thing. He was such an amazing person, who could always put a smile on your face, even after working a long and tiring 8 hour shift. I always looked forward to my shifts with him and knew it would be a good day, as long as he was there. He was at Joey DTLA for four months and in those short four months, he left his mark on all of us. I want you guys to know that he was so loved here. I will always cherish the memories we had together, from fooling around in the back of the restaurant to singing all his favorite artists at the top of our lungs to the conversations we had getting to know each other better. I’ve only known him for four months, but I can’t imagine how it feels for those who were lucky enough to know him for longer. My condolences to every single precious person that was in his life. Jonathan, I will miss and love you forever. Please watch over us while you dance, sing, and fill up the room with happiness and light wherever you are.

I didn’t know Jonathan at all, I just saw him all over my social media and I can see he was truly an amazing person with great talent. LOVED by everyone he came across and although him and I never crossed paths in our lives I hope he is living his acting career in heaven and watching over everyone he loved<3

Jonathan was one of my students. He was a ray of sunshine. He lit up every room and made everyone smile. I’m grateful for the time I knew him. I will carry him in my memories and my heart. 

Siempre te recordaré, con esa chispa, tan únicamente tuya. 

One of my favorite memories of Jon is when he let me do his makeup for his euphoria party. During this time he shared his exciting life in LA with me. I’ll always cherish that moment because although we were living separate lives, in separate states we were still close. I’ll always miss him. We love you Jon! 

My favorite memory with Jonathan was on Jan 4, 2022. We decided to randomly take a mini road trip to the Getty Museum….but when we got there, instead of looking at the art, he immediately pulled me aside to this huge field and said “Karmela, let’s just sit in this field for a little.” It wasn’t a little hahaha. We ended up staying in that field for HOURS just talking about anything and everything from our passions to our fears to random things, cuddling, laughing SOOO hard, even crying. All just out in the open, not giving a care who saw because being with Jonathan was like being in a whole other world. I remember him going “I don’t care who sees, they wish they had what we had.” So FINALLY we look at the clock and we’re like okay, we have to see SOMETHING before it closes! So we went in for only about an hour or so but I took a few pictures of Jonathan admiring some of the art. It felt fitting, because in a way I felt like I was admiring him in those moments. Admiring him for being so comfortable and fearless and beautiful of a person. We ended up exploring only like 5% of the museum but we had a really great time in the museum, and then ended the night with some Olive Garden. It’s definitely my favorite memory with Jonathan because it was simple, yet it made me feel 100x closer to Jonathan and he reminded me of all the reasons he came into my life. The simple days were always the best with Jonn because you really got to see him for everything he was on a personal level. I’m lucky to have gotten to have even the simplest of days with him, because he always knew how to make a simple day special. 

Jonnathan is hands-down one of the best people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I met him my freshman year of college, we were both musical theater majors. I remember immediately being drawn to him, he had the most attractive energy and I could tell he was a great person. I quickly found out he was so much more. 
Jonnathan and I were both very busy people so we didn’t get to see each other nearly as much as I wish we could have but I still felt so close and loved by him. He was always always sliding up on everything I post to tell me how beautiful I was and always knew how to say the right things at the right time to really make me feel like I was all the things he said that I was. Every chance I got to hang out with him was so refreshing. We would just talk about music, our future plans, our best friends (he loved Paige so much), we would cook and paint each others nails, dance and sing our faces off to Benny and Jets. Jonnathan was so loving and so kind to everyone he was friends with, the type of friend that would offer to drive me to the airport, I didn’t even have to ask.  I learned sooo much from him in just the short couple years we were friends. I love how unapologetic he was about who he was. He just did what made him happy and said all of his thoughts without caring about being judged. Or if he did care he hid it really well. Very quickly into our friendship he inspired me to be more like that and I felt myself change for the better the more I was like him. I was so lucky to have him in my dance classes freshmen year. He was an amazing dancer and I wanted to cry whenever someone told me to do a grapevine. But he was so encouraging to me and used to even stay after and help me with the things I didn’t get. He taught me to enjoy dancing and inspired me to want to grow more. And that goes for every aspect of my life not just dance. I love him so much and I’m going to miss him forever. 

My best memory with Jonathan was taking him with me to the Ellen show. I remember us freaking out at the thought of us being there, it felt so surreal. We had the best time, especially during the dance breaks. 
He was always the most fun to be around. His presence brought so many people joy, laughter and comfort. I remember being in performance classes with him at Studio School and being so in awe of his talent and his ability to just be raw and comfortable in his own body. He was never nervous or doubted his talents. He did everything so effortlessly. 

I know right now, he is performing with Judy up in the sky and souring with flying colors. 

Jonathan, I will always be your friend, and love you for not only touching my heart but everyone else you knew. I will never forget you.

Jonathan was a friend of my daughters they met in college . I had the pleasure of knowing him as well, his smile was contagious and his work was always awesome . My condolences for his family he will be missed . 

Querido primo Jony, me es muy doloroso asimilar, el saber que has partido de este mundo, momentos que pasamos juntos cuando compartimos habitación, cuando hicimos aquel tiro al blanco, eras muy fanático de la saga de los juegos del hambre, que por cierto ese tiro al blanco estaba muy mal echo.

Recuerdo que me decías tío y siempre te corregía, no soy tu tío soy tu primo y decías como sea, con el tiempo  me empezaste a decir  gorgy y yo te decía primate, recuerdo que  siempre estabas con esa sonrisota de oreja a oreja, esa vozarrón que te cargabas y te comente que deberías tirarle a la cantada y me dijiste que te gustaba la bailada y la actuación.
Y si bailabas muy bien mi querido primate, ese baile en los 15 de Cecilia Gabriela estuvo de lujo, recuerdo que me dijiste que lo ensayaron en muy poco tiempo, pero tenias un talento y un carisma espectacular.
Nos dejas con un vacío y una tristeza inconmensurable, recuerdos que hoy voy anhelar tenerlos siempre en mi corazón. 
Hoy vas a tener bailando a todos en el cielo, vas a ponerles coreografías, vas a deslumbrarlos con tu fenomenal sonrisa y tu extraordinario carisma, por que ya eres una ESTRELLA.

Jonn was truly the happiest whole hearted spirit anyone could ever be around and I’m honored I got to know him in my lifetime. He lit up the room when he would walk through the door, his energy was unmatched. You will be missed by many, we love you Jonn.❤️ 

It was an honor to have you in my life, I feel lucky to have gained a cousin in you. I always was so excited to hear you were in town I automatically knew it was going to be a time to remember. I have never before met someone so sure of what they would become. Your heart was and forever will be one of a kind. I will never forget you shaking your tush while singing Child’s Play. The world is going to miss out on you but please know we all carry you in our hearts. Te queremos mucho y te extrañaremos mucho más! Descansa en paz chulo. Legends never die❤️

I will never forget how in love I was with life when I was cuddled up next to Jonathan, Savannah and Alyssa. There will be a huge hole in our hearts without you around Jonn Jonn.

Jonathan was truly an Angel on earth. One of my very best friends in high school and I am so glad to have known him, to have been apart of his life and to have the memories that we do. This picture describes our friendship perfectly. He loved to hold my hand. He was funny, true, honest and beautiful. He was very loved and will be missed GREATLY. I’m grateful to have known him. 

Not only was he a bright soul but he had so much potential.. he will be missed by all of the Akins Theatre Program

Jonathan was home, from the second I met him at Orientation, I was blown away by his kindness, bright personality, and twinkling eyes. Jonathan knew how to dream, he knew how to live, and it’s absolutely undeniable that he lived a life greater than anything I could imagine for myself. He worked extremely hard to achieve that but he also had a mindset that I envy that allowed him to release himself fully into life without fear. When Jonathan and I would get home sick we would lay in my bed and cuddle and talk about our families, our childhoods, what we missed about home and loved about Los Angeles. Those heart to heart moments, laying in his arms and feeling comforted from my fear simply because he was there, is something I will never forget. Jonathan wrote a note that I would like to share “B - Thank you for all the time we would cuddle in your bed. Knowing that I can share that intimacy with a friend, feels like home. You’re such a hard worker and don’t give yourself credit. You’re amazing. Te Amo <3”. I never thought I would have to live without seeing Jonathan again, but I know, wherever he is, he’s supporting me the best that he can, and he would want me to live without fear as he did, and so I will. It's hard to find words expressive and beautiful enough when writing about Jonathan because he was such a light to everyone who knew him. He was my first friend in LA, and I didn't know it at the time but he was the person that would help me adjust to college life across the country from home. I remember I was so nervous about having to take acting classes and I never felt good enough until I became friends with Jonathan. He gave me confidence and had me looking forward to acting classes because he was there. We bonded over out love of dancing and Judy Garland. Some of my fondest memories are singing the Trolly Song on our breaks, but I think my favorite memory I have with him is the first time we hung out. We had a long break between classes and decided to walk to chipotle. We were still getting to know each other and we talked about our childhood and dreams of the future. He told me about his sisters and his love for his family and how he wanted his own one day. He was such a light in my life and I miss him everyday. I share my condolences with his family and friends in Austin. Please know that he was loved so much and his absence is felt here in LA.  

Jonathan is one of the brightest, boldest, unapologetically authentic people I’ve ever met. I remember meeting him in Select Ensemble senior year and being immediately drawn to his openness and willingness to befriend just about anyone. I will forever admire how supportive and kind he was, as well as his ability to know just the right words to say in a time of self doubt and uncertainty. From GAHSMTA to LA he helped me break out of my shell and learn to live more freely and confidently in who I am. He has helped me meet and befriend some of the best people I know to this day and it is all because of his infectious energy. I am forever grateful I knew him and got to call him friend, love you always Jonathan.

Jonathan always taught me dances during our breaks in our story mediums class. It always made me forget about all my stress and remember to be free. :)  

Jonathan is the funniest, sweetest, and freest person I ever met, and I hope to half as happy as he was everyday. He never failed to make everyone he was with feel special. He touched so many people and he will be greatly missed. 

Jonathan will forever carry on in me. That’s how great of a person he was.  He made such an impact on my life. Just his voice could light up a room.  I love you Jonathan.

Sympathies to Jonathan’s family , he was such a bright light to everyone he knew . He was a good friend of my daughters and I had the pleasure of getting to know him as well . He is a star shinning bright for all !

I first met Jonathan at a college party welcoming the freshmen of our new college. I remember how excited he was to get to know me, he bombarded me with questions and I was so excited someone was interested in talking to me! We hung out the rest of the night until we went to sleep, and then the next day he texted me asking to meet him on the rooftop to hang out. From then on out, everyday or as many days as possible after school, we would go to the rooftop and just talk for HOURS. Our relationship quickly blossomed and deepened, and he always took me everywhere. Hikes, museums, the beach, different movie theaters, random parks, new places to eat, literally anything and everything. He loved a good adventure. I’m so lucky I got to know Jonathan on such a deep level. He taught me so much about being comfortable in my own skin, about true friendship, about life and my dreams, and he taught me a lot about love in general. Jonathan loved his friends harder than anyone could ever love anything, and anyone who got the opportunity to be his friend knows how much of a privilege it is to be loved by him. One of the things I loved most about Jonathan was his drive and passion. He always knew where he wanted to go and he always knew he would get there. I asked him for a random piece of advice one day, and of course he said to me, “It may be hard, but it’s not impossible.” That quote is so Jonathan, and it’s such a perfect piece of advice for all of us at this time. Whatever we may be feeling, it’s hard, but it’s not impossible to overcome. He has a way of pushing people to their best, especially himself, which was even more inspiring. I looked up to him so much, as so many of us did. Luckily, he’s the shiniest star we’ve all ever known. The biggest and the brightest. All we have to do is keep looking up to him. I know I do everyday. He has permanently changed my life completely for the better and I’m just so grateful I got to know such a beautiful, glowing, one of a kind soul.

Jonathon was the happiest and kindest young man.  He was my daughters closest and truest friends. The two of them shared a bond that I have never even shared with a friend.   The news of his passing broke the hearts of so many.   A piece of my daughter goes away with jonathon as he held her heart completely.  Rest In Peace you beautiful child!

Jonathan era un gran amigo, y ser humano, siempre estará con ustedes. I will always remember Jon and I singing ‘te bote’ at the top of our lungs bcs it was our song, a memory that will live with me forever. He was the best Spanish class colleague too because we both always came to class without the homework and would be so happy we were at least in it together, I will always cherish the good moments and the hilarious times with him.
