Johnnie was born in Crystal Springs, Mississippi June 10, 1927. He joined the United States Air Force at a very early age and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. During his career his met his future wife, Kay, while he was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. They married in 1953 and moved to Texas. They had two children, daughter Anne and son Mitchell and two grandsons Austin and Reid. While Johnnie and Kay were stationed in Great Falls, Montana, they were charter members, instrumental in starting the Belt Mountain Baptist Church.
Johnnie had a passion for anything mechanical, that he shared with his son Mitchell. He restored many Ford Mustangs, vintage small engines and antique marine outboard. His interest in aviation at a very young age prompted him to join the air force at 17. Over the last few years he and his daughter, Anne, visited many aviation museums worldwide fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Johnnie is survived by daughter; Anne and son- in-law Frank, grandsons; Austin and Reid and son; Mitchell.

Graveside Service will be held, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held prior to the Graveside Service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
