Johnnie E. Mogonye, age 94 passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024. He was born in Taylor, Texas on September 10th, 1930. He attended Taylor High School where he was in the Taylor Duck Band and was best known for playing the big bass drum in the marching band. He was soon drafted to the Korean conflict where he spent 3 years before discharge. Johnnie spent 38 years in the paper printing business. He attended Faith Lutheran Church where he participated in many positions. He loved softball, fishing and bowling. He was a proud adult leader with Explorer Post 47 where he received numerous awards. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.E. and Mary Mogonye, two infant children, and his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his son Jon, and sister-in-law Carol Lantzsch, and many nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Faith Lutheran Church (6600 Woodrow Avenue) on 11/20/2024 at 11:30am with funeral to follow at 12:30. Graveside services will be at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
