John JT Thomas, beloved father, son, brother, uncle and dear friend, left us peacefully on Friday evening, surrounded in love by daughter Autumn, family and dear friends. John was born February 18, 1947 in Pasadena, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Austin. John served in the US Marine Corps from 1964 1968. Upon his return from the military, he attended San Jacinto Jr. College and Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, where he made many lifetime friends. He later moved to Austin, continued his work as a skilled electrician and became a member of IBEW Local 520. In addition to working for the Texas Employment Commission and the University of Texas, he was involved with Roadstar Productions for many years. All who knew John knew of his devotion and adoration for the love of his life, Autumn, and his love of his favorite pastime, music. He was seldom at a loss for words and was always ready for intelligent dialogue on any subject. His quick wit and wry sense of humor will be missed. He will forever be remembered as a dedicated father and loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas, Sr. He is survived by his daughter Autumn; mother Juanita; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Sandra Thomas; sister Anita Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Veterans Hospital in Temple for their caring and compassion. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael ORourke, Joseph Dog Howe, Gary Grabowske, James Red Knapp, Kenny Lucas, William E. McCord, Konrad Riley and Xalapeño Charlie Duggan. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel with interment to follow at 5:00 pm at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca.
