John Webb Routh was born June 30, 1923 in Charlotte, North Carolina and passed away on April 13, 2006 in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara, Sister Nellie Brook McKee, daughters Susan Routh, Nancy Routh and Joan Routh Aydam and three terrific grandchildren Wm. Hogan Aydam III, Ellen Bracey Aydam and Christopher John Aydam, as well as many other relatives and friends around the country. John grew up in Bronxville, New York and attended the Hill School in Pennsylvania, Yale University and Duke University School of Law. He served his country in World War II from 1942 1945 in the Army Air Corps as First Lieutenant. During some of this time he served in France training French Pilots. For many years, John was a Patent Attorney with American Home Products in New York specializing in Pharmaceutical patents. He was a member of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Assoc., the Yale Club of the Treasure Coast and the Lakeway Church. He was a former Board Member of the Bronxville School and very active for many years as a Deacon of the Reformed Church of Bronxville. An avid historical stamp collector, history buff and Genealogist, John was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Confederacy. He enjoyed coaching his daughter softball games, going to every local high school football game and spending as much time as possible on Long Beach Island at the Jersey Shore. John was preceded in death by his parents Esse Edgar Routh and Brooke Jones Routh and brothers Nelson and Edgar. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinsons, or Alzheimers Association or the Lakeway Church.
