John "Kris" Rogers, 73, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on July 9, 2023.
Born in Pittsburg, Kansas, growing up Kris and his family moved around to many places with his dad serving in the U.S. Army, to include Washington state, Hawaii, Indiana, and Kentucky, graduating from Fort Knox High School. He spent the summer with his family in Bangkok, Thailand before entering college at Purdue University. He graduated from Purdue University in December 1973 and just a few days later married his first wife, Diane Garrett of Lafayette, Indiana. He earned a Master of Science in Systems Management from The University of Southern California in February 1977.
Kris served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky as a Management Information Systems Officer from 1974 through 1977.
He moved to Austin, Texas in 1977 to begin his career with Texas Instruments where he worked for 15 years. He then worked for IBM for 15 years before retiring. He received his Project Management Certification and worked for IBM in a contract position for an additional 3 years. He then went on to work for Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for 4 years before retiring (again).
Kris married Margaret Diane LeBlanc of Church Point, Louisiana in March 2001. They remained married until the time of his death.
He was an avid sports fan - coaching his daughter's soccer team, supporting her ice skating endeavors, and always cheering for the Purdue Boilermakers.
He is survived by his wife, Diane LeBlanc Rogers, of Round Rock; his sister, Mary Beth Rogers Garay, and spouse, George Garay, of San Antonio; his daughter, Carrie Rogers Gonzalez, and spouse, Jose Gonzalez, of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Barbara Rogers, of Wimberly; niece, Michelle Rogers, of Houston; step-children, Christopher LeLeux, and partner, Dana Page; Catherine LeLeux Wighaman and spouse, Adam Wighaman; Jennifer LeLeux Vaughn and spouse, Terry Vaughn, of Austin; his eight step grandchildren, his youngest, Evangeline Brooke Vaughn, was born just one day before Kris passed away - he was so looking forward to meeting little Eva; and many dear cousins.
Kris was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Kenneth Rogers and Rosemary Schieflbein Rogers; his older brother, Kenneth Scott Rogers; his nephew, Scott Douglas Rogers.
A service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the American Heart Association.
