John Paul Munoz II was born to Juan Pablo Munoz and Augustina Reyna Munoz on April 4, 1942 in Beeville, Texas.
After graduating from Beeville High School, John moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he met and married Velma Guerra. They lived in many cities, finally settling in Austin, Texas. There he had a long and rewarding career with the City of Austin for 22 years, retiring in June 1999. After retirement he was active in his community and a regular fixture at St John’s Community Center.
John joyfully served the Catholic Church throughout his entire life participating in any and every function possible. His voice was soft and caring in prayer meetings but loud and stern when defending the faith, and a little out of tune while singing in choir.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving Father and Grandfather, John also loved music, dancing, nature, photography, and people in general. His charming nature and witty conversation made him easy to remember and difficult to forget.
He joins his parents, Juan Pablo Munoz and Augustina Reyna Munoz; his sister, Lupe De La Rosa; brother-in-laws, Antonio De La Rosa and Tony Candela in Heaven.
John Paul Munoz II is survived by his children, daughter, Catherine Jo Torres and son-in-law, Michael Torres and son, John Paul Munoz III and daughter-in- law, Virginia Lopez Munoz; sister, Mary Martinez and brother-in-law, Ricky Martinez, sister, Vickey Candela and brother, Ricardo Munoz and sister-in-law, Janie Munoz; his grandchildren, Nina Marie Torres, John Paul Munoz IV and Dominique Renee Munoz.
