John Hartley Martin

John Hartley Martin, age 70, of Austin, Texas passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. John was born in Panama City, Panama, to Louis E. Martin and Ana M. Martin. In high school, John was a drill team commander in ROTC. He would continue ROTC to his senior year when he became the battalion commander. John wanted to join the military, but due to his asthma was unable to.

John was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

John is survived by his beloved wife Lilly G. Martin, daughter, Frances Ann Martin, stepsons, Robert Garcia and his wife Jessica, Vidal (Billy) Garcia, his girlfriend, Dawn Hollerbach and grandson Milo Garcia, nieces, Allison Martin, Mayra Martin, Anne Wilson (Ira), nephew's, Robert Martin and wife Bernadette, Mario Martin Jr. and wife Stacy, Darrin Martin and wife Josie, Dustin Martin and his girlfriend Madison Melton.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ana Martin, his brother's Mario, Louis, Robert and Frank, his in-laws, Benjamin and Frances Garcia, his sisters-in-law, Irene Garcia and Lydia Lamas.

A celebration of life for John will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752.
