John R. Lawrence, age 81, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 19, 2006. He was born, August 22, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts to Milford and Lillian Lawrence and grew up in Falmouth on Cape Cod. His college education was interrupted by service in the United States Air Force during World War II where he served as a communications officer rising to the rank of First Lieutenant. He attended Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts earning a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture. He met Constance Jean Asper in Chicago while in the service and they were married on September 8, 1945. John was employed nearly his entire life in the banking industry; working for 29 years with The Capital National Bank which later became Texas Commerce Bank and which is now Chase Bank. He was manager of the installment loan department and later entered a new phase of his banking career by becoming head trust auditor with the bank. He is survived by his bride of sixty one years, Connie Lawrence. Also left to honor his memory are his sons Marc Lawrence and John V. Lawrence; his daughter-in-law Vicki Lawrence; his grandchildren Tamera Lawrence and Eric Lawrence; his sister Ann Meurer, and nephew Jeffrey Asper and wife Katie Asper. The family wishes to thank the employees and nurses with Vista Care Hospice as well as the entire extended family at the Offices of Dr. Frierson-Stroud for the kind care they all extended to our husband and father during the past several months. The prayers and memories of Johns family and friends have been such a comfort during the past several weeks and the family wants to thank everyone for their remembrances.
