He is survived by his wife Ethel Merle Iffla; children, Michael John Iffla, Daly Maureen Iffla Richard, and Glenly Neil Iffla; his brother Julien Iffla; daughter-in-law Edna Iffla; and sons-in-law David Richard and Joshua Iffla.
He leaves behind six grandchildren, Stephanie Iffla Saenz, Michael Iffla Jr., Gabriella Richard, Hali Richard, Malena Richard, and David Richard Jr.; thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father Clarence H. Iffla; mother Ouida Fowler, and his sister Vilma Iffla.
John graduated from Cabavede High School in 1953 and then studied at the University of Arts and Offices, and graduated with an education in construction in 1956. John began his career with law enforcement at the Panama Canal Zone Police Force and retired September 19, 1980. During this time, John moved his family to the United States, where he later began his employment with the Travis County Sherriff’s Department on November 13, 1980 and retired in 1995.
