Mr. Blake was born December 8, 1928 with his twin sister, Janice, in Amarillo, to William Mark Blake and Marion Tipton Rowland. He graduated from high school in Lubbock and served in the US Navy from January 1951 through November 1954. Upon his return from the Korean War he attended Texas Tech University. He went on to work in the family Oil and Gas business. He remained active in the Oil and Gas industry throughout his life in Texas and several western states. He was a founding member of the Petroleum Club in San Antonio.
Through Johns' work with oil and gas leases throughout Texas, he took an interest in the WWII era Chapel located in Castro County, built by Italian Prisoners of War while they were held at the Hereford POW Camp. This Chapel received Recorded Texas Historical Landmark status on August 8, 2009, which John attended. He was a contributor to Castro County Museum.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Bill, Bob, George, and Sam.
He is survived by his daughter, Logan Lee Blake, of Carson City, Nevada; three grandchildren: Neely Blake, Blake Riggs, and Anabelle Riggs; his brother Jack Blake, of Midland, Texas; twin sister Janice Anderson, of Stockton, California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
