Joe O'Connor

He was born on July 4, 1931 in Houston, Texas to James S. O’Connor and Mary Louise Leonard O’Connor.

He graduated from St. Thomas High School and the University of Houston. Throughout his life, Joe’s career included President of Lumberman’s Investment Corporation, President of United Mortgage Company, Texas Mortgage Banker’s, as well as Houston Mortgage Bankers Association.

A certified Mortgage Banker, he received the distinguished services award (TMBA) and served as President of the University of Houston Letterman’s Club, as well as Trustee of St. Thomas University in Houston and St. Edward’s University in Austin.

Mr. O’Connor is survived by his wife, Penny O’Connor; children, Chris O’Connor and wife, Sandy, Tim O’Connor, and Kevin O’Connor and wife, Laura; grandchildren, Ryan, Matt and Jeffrey O’Connor.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1100 Main St., Buda, Texas followed by a Memorial Mass at 3:30 P.M. with Father Kirby Garner, Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions made in Joe’s memory to the Santa Cruz Catholic Church Building Fund.
