Joe Delbert Malott, age 91, of Austin, formerly of Dripping Springs, died peacefully in his sleep at home Friday, August 18, 2006. He was born August 17, 1915 in Dripping Springs, under a big oak tree, to John Wesley and Lillie Christine Phillips Malott. Joe served with the Texas 36th Infantry Division for 5 years in the European theater of World War II. Following his discharge from the Armed Services, he became a floor covering contractor in Austin. After his retirement, his interest was in raising and selling Boer goats. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dripping Springs. He is survived by his wife Frances McIntyre Malott; daughter, Nikki and husband Steve McVey, of Sisters, Oregon; son, Ronald Joe Malott, of Raton, New Mexico; step-daughters, Linda and husband, Andre Suarez, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carla and husband, Dan McCoy, of Pahrump, Nevada; four grand children, C.J. Holweger, Anicia Holweger, Leska Douglas, and Tasha Malott; four step- grandchildren, Ron Hill, Dimas Suarez, Teresa Spoor, and Rocky Lott; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Words cannot express the love and respect he holds from each of us who knew him. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 20 at the funeral home.
