Joan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College, class of 1951. She had a full and varied career as an elementary school teacher, flight attendant with American Airlines, business administrator, travel agent and entrepreneur. She loved to travel and lived many places including: Spain, The Bahamas and Puerto Rico. Joan moved to Austin, Texas where she retired.
Joan is survived by her two sons, Edward B. H. Davies and James C. Davies, daughter-in-law Denise Pine Davies, grandchildren E. Forrest Davies, Dylan J. Davies and Cheyenne Davies, sister Elizabeth J. R. Goodspeed and nephew Roger C. Goodspeed.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills located at 9700 Anderson Mill Road in Austin.
