Jimmy "Jim" Arthur Meserole of Lago Vista, Texas peacefully passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the age of 79. He was born in Austin, Texas on March 6, 1935 to Joe and Lucy Meserole. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Virginia Lucille Lewis and his brother Robert Joe Meserole. He is survived in death by his son, Greg Meserole, daughter-in-law, Susie Meserole, daughter, Dana DeLorenzo, son-in-law Matt DeLorenzo and his grandchildren: Madison Meserole, Meghan Meserole, Noble Meserole and Miller DeLorenzo. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Helen Helm of Elgin, Texas, Josephine Ann Serna of Battle Mountain, Nevada, Mary Theresa "Cookie" Gray and her husband, Charles of Austin, Texas.
Jim proudly served in the United State Marine Corp from 1957 to 1959. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California where he was trained in electronics and was a sharpshooter.
After his time in the service, Jim returned to Austin and entered the insurance industry where he flourished. His career started at Texas Insurance Checking Office, TICO, then on to Maryland Casualty Insurance Company. In 1970, Jim became a partner and owner of a local insurance agency, Fred Nagle & Co. Jim owned and operated this company for over 35 years. In 2008, Jim sold his operations to Stephens Inc. Jim put his clients as a top priority, always thought of them first and considered them friends.
Over the years he served on many board and committee positions in Lago Vista and in Austin, Texas. He served on the Lago Vista School Board, President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Austin and President of The Manchaca Optimist Junior Baseball League. He also enjoyed his time with the Lago Vista Men's Golf Association. Jim was a member of the St. Mary our Lady of the Lake Knights of Columbus Council No. 10463.
Jim's favorite past time was cooking for his family and friends. He became famous at the office for supplying the best cakes and pastries, especially during birthdays and special occasions. His thoughtfulness and heart for others was clearly evident. This was his way of expressing his love for others. Jim also enjoyed playing golf with his friends in Lago Vista and fishing throughout Texas.
Funeral Mass to be held at St. Mary Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 6100 Lohmans Ford Rd, Lago Vista, TX 78645 on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The celebration of Jim's life will continue at a lunch reception immediately following the mass.
