He was born on July 22, 1932, and was raised in Bee Caves, Texas. In 1949, he graduated from Austin High School and joined the United States Navy at 19. He proudly served during the Korean War aboard the USS Papago ATF 160. His U.S. Navy Veterans hat was his permanent accessory for all occasions.
Jimmy was a hard worker and an entrepreneur. In 1954 he founded an Austin-based hardwood floor company that still operates today, Kellam Wood Floors. In 1977, he met the love of his life, Nancy Stockton. Together, they would spend the next 44 years laughing, dancing, and creating a solid family foundation.
He loved to be surrounded by those he loved during holidays, family gatherings, and vacations. Having a kind heart, Jimmy passionately rescued all kinds of animals, and his sweet tooth allowed him to accept dessert any time, no matter the hour. He was giving, caring and a selfless soul. Jimmy never knew a stranger and had endless stories to share. His personality was like no other, and he often made his family laugh with his “Jimmyisms.” He touched so many lives and was his family’s hero. Jimmy will be celebrated and missed by all who loved him forever
Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Kellam, Jr., and his parents, Allen and Edith Kellam.
