He attended William B. Travis High School in Austin where he made many lifelong friends. After serving in the Navy, he followed in his father’s footsteps and entered a sheet metal career with Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #67.
Jimmy enjoyed life to the fullest and was known for his sense of humor. He was a hard worker and was always there for his family and friends. Growing up he enjoyed playing baseball and coastal fishing. In his later years, he enjoyed activities with his grandsons including watching them play sports, swimming with them in the backyard pool, and riding around the neighborhood with them in his golf cart or beside them as they ran. He was extremely proud of them. In summary, his greatest love was his family.
Jimmy is survived by his loving daughter, Sharon Schneider and son-in-law Tony Schneider; grandsons, Luke and Ryan; niece, Sherri Long; nephew, Danny Long and numerous other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Long; brother-in-law, Gary Long and niece, Terri Long.
