Jimmy "Jim" Doherty was born February 21, 1935 in Buda Texas. Jimmy was the second of three children born to Ennis and Corrine Doherty. As a child he loved the outdoors, and was always proud of his rural upbringing. He attended Buda High school where he was involved in athletics, mischief, and fun with his family and friends. At the age of 16, he met Dorothy "Dot" Caruthers who would become the love of his life. They were happily married for over 50 years.
In his young adult life, he had many jobs and was in the National Guard where he proudly served on active duty for one year. Later he found his way into the laundry and dry cleaning industry where he worked as a salesman for over 55 years.
Throughout his life he had many hobbies such as hunting, camping, fishing, cooking, and telling tall tales. He always said, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story". During their life together, Jim and Dot traveled extensively. They especially loved trailer camping with their friends, and were always looking forward to their next adventure.
Although they had no children of their own, they were everyone's Uncle Jim and Aunt Dot.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ennis and Corinne Doherty; siblings, Billie Massey and Jack Doherty; and his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Doherty.
Jim is survived by his family members, Mark and Rita Rawlings, Tara and Patrick Richardson, Russ, Tina and Taylor Massey, Carol Caruthers, Karen and Derek Turner, Sharla and Marty Gordon, Karon McMurray, Linda Doherty, Dianne and Paul Borreson, and many other grand nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as many extended family members, friends and customers.
