Jerry L. Valentine Jerry L. Valentine, Ph.D., C.F.A., age 65, of Austin, and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in Austin. Jerry grew up in Springfield, Missouri and received his B.A. in Philosophy from Drury College, graduating 1st in his class. He attended Business School at Columbia University before receiving his Ph.D. in Finance from North Texas State University. Jerry had a successful career in banking and investments including Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co., Texas Commerce Bank and Republic National Bank. He eventually discovered his true calling in Academia, having taught at SMU, Rice University, Southwestern University and St. Edwards University, where he held the Kozmetsky Chair. Jerry became a trustee of Financial Analysts Research Foundation and associate editor of CFA Digest. He helped develop the CFA Certification Exam. Survivors include his first wife, Carol Wasson Valentine and their children, Greg Valentine and wife Amy, Erik Valentine and wife Sharon and Paige Valentine. In 1993 he married Billie Banks and is also survived by her three children. In all, his legacy includes seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be private.
