Early education included grades 1-8 in the one room Wampler Rural School; graduated from Weatherford High School, Weatherford Jr. College where she was Homecoming Queen, and received her B.A. degree from TCU when only 18--taught High School English while going to TCU at night receiving her Master's degree at age 20. At 25 she was named Outstanding Teacher of her school.
Jeanne has worn “many hats”, teacher, counselor, supervisor, mother, Registered Nurse and the beautiful white Fez of the Ladies Oriental Shrine serving as High Priestess of Ben Hera Court #91 in 1985-86. And the Crown when serving as Queen of Ruh Neb Temple No. 64 Daughters of the Nile. She served in many offices of Ruh
Neb as Chaplain and as President of the Pageantry Unit. She is past Worthy Matron of Austin Chapter #304 and Fidelis Chapter #963 and Round Rock 316 of the Eastern Star and has served as organist two years and various other stations.
Jeanne and husband Bubba have been very active in many Shrine events and traveled extensively to LOS Grand Councils and Shrine Imperial meetings throughout the United States and Canada. She never met a stranger and prided herself on
caring for her patients and bringing joy and happiness to them as well as her friends and family. She had a contagious smile, and an energetic attitude that greatly influenced everyone around her. She loved to share jokes and red roses and in
recent years, Beanie Babies, as she has been an avid collector of them from all over
the world.
After retirement, playing bridge and reading were among her favorite past times. She served as President of the FFF Bridge Club, the Welcome to Austin Bridge and Canasta Club.. She was also a member of the Austin Woman's Club and the Austin Club for years and bridge chairman of Cosmos at Balcones Country Club.
As a Surgical Assistant and office nurse for Dr. David Fleeger and the late Dr. W.A."Andy" Hibbert, Jeanne thought a big smile and warm hug were the best medicine for many of her patients which she enjoyed so much. Besides being a hard worker and friend to all, she also enjoyed cooking, oil painting, and sewing. She and Bubba were members of Memorial Methodist Church, on Berkman Street,
where she served as President of Wesley School Board and on various committees for years. She and Bubba traveled over most of the United States and many other countries. One of her greatest trips was taking her son and grandson to watch her beloved Froggies win the Rose Bowl on January 1st, 2011.
Preceding Jeanne in death were her Aggie husband, R.S. "Bubba" Williamson, Jr. and parents, Buster and Nellie Pearson. She is survived by her son, Benji May and wife Lesa and grandson Ryan of Round Rock, and a host of friends and good neighbors.
