Jeanne Louise George was born on February 14, 1931 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Greenfield, PA where she enjoyed spending a great deal of time with her extended family. She loved “helping out” at her uncle’s drug store and was a fan of the soda fountain. Having a church organist for a mother meant that Jeanne also spent quite a bit of time at their neighborhood church. She attended secretarial school after graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School and worked as a secretary.
Jeanne met Paul Lintelman in school. They dated, got engaged and married before he was drafted to serve in the army. When he returned they bought a house in Oakmont, Pennsylvania where Paul had a job at Jeanne’s uncle’s hardware store. Soon a daughter, Gayle joined the family and was joined by Paul Jr. (Fritz) a few years later.
Jeanne and Paul were active members of church groups and taught Sunday school classes. Jeanne was a Stephen’s Minister and was a volunteer for CONTACT Helpline of Pittsburgh. She also worked in the Oakmont School District as a secretary, worked at the Cathedral of Learning on the University of Pittsburgh’s main campus, and assisted with pre-school classes at Beulah Presbyterian Church.
Jeanne and Paul later moved to Westerville, Ohio where they enjoyed spending time with Fritz and his family. After Paul died in 2004, Gayle encouraged Jeanne to move to Sun City, Texas. She spent 10 years enjoying Sun City living before she moved to a senior apartment community in Austin. She had fun participating in a variety of activities and made lots of new friend in her new place and got to see more of her daughter and her family. Her great-grandsons loved visiting with her.
Jeanne was known for her faith and her kind caring ways. She was always ready to share her faith or share a meal with family, friends and acquaintances. She frequently hosted family events and holidays, which usually included feeding the whole crew. She loved talking with everyone and asked many questions about their lives. She had a quick smile and was always ready to drop what she was doing to take time to pray with or for someone.
She said we should celebrate her death for now she is reborn and is in heaven with her Lord. She will be missed!
A family memorial will take place in the future. If you would like to honor Jeanne, call a neighbor, feed a friend, send a card to someone who needs cheering up, or make a donation to St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 12420 Hewitt Ln, Austin, TX 78748.
