Mr. Jean Antonin Viau passed away September 4, 2007 in Lakeway, Texas. Born in Orange, France in the region called Provence on April 15, 1922, he served in the Free French Navy in WWII under the Allied command and in Indochina aboard the Richelieu. Post-war, Mr. Viau re-joined the family business, Viau Freres, an agricultural machinery business serving the vineyards of Provence. In 1947, Mr. Viau and his wife Elizabeth Uhaze, returned to the U.S. where he was employed by J.A. Roebling Inc. and then by Cooper Industries as a member of its management team. After several years in retirement in Sarasota, FL, Mr. Viau moved to Vista Oaks, Lakeway. He supported many charities including veterans and organizations supporting the disabled. He is survived by his daughters, Roseanne Dolan of Hull, GA, Jeanne Viau Rodda of Spicewood, TX and son, Etienne Jean Viau of Manalapan, NJ as well as by 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends and caregivers from Vista Oaks Assisted Living, Emmaus Catholic Parrish and Odyssey Hospice. He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Uhaze Viau and his son, Pierre Andre Viau. Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice or your preferred charity. A mass will be held for Mr. Viau at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Emmaus Catholic Church, 1708 Lohmans Crossing, Lakeway, TX.
