Janice Sue Robinson Stone, senior software quality assurance manager, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, in Austin Texas, surrounded by loving family. Janice Sue was born in Houston to Jim and Amy Robinson on August 11, 1953. Sue (as she was fondly called by her family) always reached for the stars. She was a caring, thoughtful and dedicated woman, sacrificing herself for loved ones throughout her too-short life.
Janice Sue attended Jesse H Jones High School in Houston; she graduated with a B.S. degree in Math from The University of Arkansas in 1983.
She was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant, from the United States Air Force in 1982, after serving four (4) years with the Air Force Missile Command in Little Rock, Arkansas, as an electronic computer repair and systems specialist.
Following her military service, Jan (as she was fondly known by her professional colleagues), worked for over 30 years in the information technology field. She was a Systems Engineer and a Senior Quality Assurance Manager testing and vetting software for multi-million dollar projects for several agencies and companies. She worked globally, most recently leading teams in the Philippines. She was highly respected and cherished by the employees she led, both domestically and globally.
Sue was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie R. Stone (Aldrex G. Hill) granddaughter Harmony Lavon Hill, mother Amy Robinson and brother James Reid Robinson II, all of Austin, brothers Michael Ray Robinson (Rhoda) of Duluth, MN, and Dennis Robinson (Lynda) of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her father James Reid Robinson.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin. Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Burial service will be at 2:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
