Our dear mother, Janet Draper of Austin, TX peacefully passed away July 24th at the age of 84. All of her children were present in the house and I'm sure that brought her great comfort. She will be sadly missed and will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Draper and son Ronnie Fisher and survived by sons Marc (Deatra Boese) Draper, and Mike Draper, daughter Jeanette Draper Stephenson, granddaughter Michaela Draper and grandson Zachary Draper, brother John (Becky) Van Cleve.
She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her and always gave wise advice in tough situations. Honesty and integrity was a priority to her. She taught us at an early age to be independent, stand on our own two feet and stay grounded. She had many good life-time friends that she developed deep and meaningful relationships with.
Mom loved to read and passed this "gift" on to all her children. She was a well loved President of her book club in Austin, TX.
She had many hobbies, passions and interests: self-taught artist, writer of short stories, antique collecting, traveling - England was her favorite place in the world. She loved all animals - we would feed and water the wild critters that came around and watch together from the window as they ate and drank.
She had a wicked sense of humor and and loved telling jokes, (even if they were a bit on the naughty side).
She was a great cook and her comfort dishes, did just that, comforted you.
She was also the only person I knew who can keep the same African Violets alive for decades.
If you would like to pay your respects, you are welcome to attend the memorial service we are holding in her honor at Cook Walden funeral home Austin, Tx, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, August 19th Saturday at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to our mother's favorite charity - World Wildlife Fund.
Dress casual and colorful to celebrate her fun and colorful life.
"Mothers never really die, they just keep the house up in the sky. They polish the sun by day and light the stars that shine at night, keep the moonbeams silvery bright and in the heavenly home above they wait to welcome those they love".
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.cookwaldenforestoaks.com for the Draper family.
