Jane, after graduating from high school, went to work as a Secretary at the First Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Later she moved to Richmond, Virginia to work for the Board of Christian Education. While living in Richmond she met Bill and after his graduation from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia they were married and moved to Gatlinburg, Tennessee on a three year training program with the Bureau of Public Roads (now Federal Highway Administration). From Gatlinburg they moved to Denver, CO; Washington, D.C. ; and Richmond, VA; and on first permanent assignment to Charleston, West Virginia and then to Columbus, Ohio. In 1974 they transferred to Austin, Texas. Jane worked for Travis County for twelve years. When Bill retired in 1990 they were able to travel and visited eighteen countries. In the States, the National Parks were a favorite. For many years they enjoyed the Austin Playhouse theater productions.
Jane was a charter member of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church and an ordained Deacon. Over the years she sang in the choir and was a member of the handbell choir. She also served as a Stephen Minister and was a volunteer for the Bread Project, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and other opportunities. She and Bill were volunteers for Meals on Wheels for seventeen years. She was a former member of the YMCA and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ft. Loudoun Chapter in Winchester, VA.
Jane is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Hall; daughters Leigh Sanders of Olathe, KA, and Beth Spurgeon of Lakeway,TX; son Mark Hall; son-in-law Stan Sanders and three grandsons, Travis, Taylor and Austin Sanders.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 5226 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas.
