Jim was born in Brady, Texas to Jo Ella and Arthur Young Jr on May 20, 1953. He married the love of his life, Dolores (Dodie) Young on August 31, 1974 after attending the University of Texas at Austin. Eight years later they welcomed a beautiful baby girl Jazmyn Oliana Young.
Jim loved his “chulas” with all of his heart. He was a true “dog whisperer”and lover of every breed. His love for music and talent for playing almost any instrument were well known by all who knew him. Jim was an amazing singer, songwriter, and musician. His voice could capture and deliver any and all emotions making you smile, laugh, cry, and of course rock ‘n roll to your very core. He played mostly with his best friends in “the band” for over 30 years.
Jim touched so many lives, more than he will ever know, with his calm sweet soul and genuine soulful voice and talent for music.
Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years Dodie, his daughter Jazmyn Lynch her husband Ryan, grandchildren Asher (12) and Aubrey (10), sister Kathy Richardson, brother Art Young, nephew Chris Young, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family is hosting a viewing at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home in Austin on Saturday August 5, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Austin Humane Society.
The family would like to thank Hospice Austin’s Christopher House for their kindness and impeccable care of Jim in his final days.
