
He delivered me at the first hospital on main street in Smithville, TX, 12/17/1955. he was a good caring doctor.



I will always remember all the things that Dr. Thomas did for me and all the other members of Smithville Boy Scout Troop 183.  He gave so much of his time, effort and I'm sure his own money to help us grow into the men we are today.  Thanks to him we were taught that team work and hard work paid off with great experiences.  I wish to express my sadness to the family in their loss.  The world has lost a very fine man that I am proud to have known.  He won't be forgotten.



My sincerest condolences to the entire Thomas family.  I have great memories of shared family vacations, going to kindergarten in the Thomas home that sat just behind the hospital and just from knowing Dr. Thomas and  his family.  Always in my prayers.



He had the Smithville Hospital tower spell out MERRY CHRISTMAS in the 1960s, I was impressed. I knew most of his children and the Peacock's. I worked for him in 1980, and later worked for the gracious Polly! We attended Sherrie's wedding at his home. He could do anything he set his mind to. He was a very special man. Doctor Thomas was our family physician when I was a young man.  Doc was also our Scout Master for Explorer Post #183.  He provided us with a "True Adventure" when he led us with building our own kayaks and paddling approx. 250 miles from Smithville to Matagorda Bay. This was in 1955. Several years ago, Doc compiled a documentation of the trip and presented each of us with a copy.  He was very excited and passionate about the project.    My sincere prayers are with the family.



I will always remember you, "Doc."  I will forever treasure those important memories - studying for you ham license; Hurricane Carla communications center in Smithville (September 11, 1961); frequent trips to San Antonio to purchase surplus military communications equipment for Civil Defense; formation of the Lost Pines Amateur radio Club; to name a few.      Most importantly, your constant encouragement and support that contributed so prominently in my efforts to receive a college education will always be remembered.  Your letter of recommendation turned the tide.  You had the courage and resolve to extend a helping hand to me and all members of the Smithville community during a time and climate when such actions were socially and sometimes legally discouraged.  You are a true champion of justice.      Thanks for walking along with me throughout this journey called life.  I have been truly blessed to have been in your presence.     You will always have a special place in my heart and always be in my prayers.
