James "Jimmy" Leon Robertson Jr., age 86 passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Silverado Senior Living Onion Creek Austin, Texas. He was born on February 25, 1927 to James and Celeste Robertson in St. Louis, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lena Segale Robertson and sister Mrs. Cynthia Grounds.
James is survived by sons, Glenn Robertson, Scot Robertson; daughter, Gayle Robertson; nephews, Richard Woodruff, Randy Maxwell; several grandchildren; Dustin Robertson, Keshia Robertson, Karinna Robertson, (Glenn); Daniel Robertson, Elena Robertson, Jill Robertson, (Scot); Samuel LoPiccolo, Joseph LoPiccolo (Gayle); cousins, Philip Robertson and Virginia "Ginny" Robertson; and many friends in Texas and New England.
Jimmy's family moved from St. Louis early in his life to Dallas Texas where he grew up and went to school in the depression. During WWII he joined the Navy on January 27th 1945 and served on a PT Boat in the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge from Camp Wallace Texas in May 1946. After obtaining his High School diploma, he went to Texas A&M College in College Station Texas. After receiving his BA degree in 1951, he moved back to Dallas and worked with U.S. Rubber as Sales Order Clerk. Jim joined Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in 1955 as a Pharmaceutical salesman. He married Lena Segale in Dallas February 1956 and had his first son Glenn in September of 1956. James and Lena had their second son in January 1958 and a daughter in May 1960. In 1964 Jim moved his family to Longmeadow Massachusetts and in 1968 moved the family to the longtime family home at 110 Farmington Ave in Longmeadow. While in Longmeadow he worked in sales for Addressograph-Multigraph and McGraw-Hill while his wife Lena worked as a teacher at Hartford CT Public High School. After his wife passed in 2005, he sold his Longmeadow home and lived for a while in a condo in Springfield Mass near the Longmeadow boarder. With health problems Jimmy moved to the Goddard House living assistance center in Brookline MA. In 2010 James moved back to Texas, in Austin near his son Glenn at various living assistance centers, the Summit at Westlake, the Summit at Lakeway, and Silverado at Onion Creek.
Memorial Service 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress.
