Jimmy was born to Otto and Gladys Nutt on April 7,1929 in Ludlow, Mississippi and had 2 siblings, Billy Van and LaVelle.
Jimmy grew up with a love of and talent for music and started his career as a professional musician at the age of 15. He joined the Navy during the Korean war and served both on the USS Iowa and in the Navy band. Through the Navy band, he would meet lifelong friends and future family with a shared love of music.
His music took him on tours across many states with some top bands, but he settled in Colorado after meeting his future bride, Joyce. He still “gigged” regularly, but much closer to home.
World travel was also a passion for Jimmy and Joyce, and over many years, they visited a long list of countries, embracing their people, cultures, and histories.
Jimmy and Joyce shared a love that was truly special, and their 58-year marriage was an inspiration to all who knew them.
They had 3 sons, James (Jamie), Stephen, and David, and he loved his life in Colorado, spending many days camping and fishing with his wife and boys.
Family was everything to Jimmy and we all knew just how much he loved us and supported us.
Jimmy is survived by his sons Stephen and David, daughters-in-law Karen and Katie, grandchildren Tyler, Bryanna, Yvonne, Tashia, Jack, Frankie, Mitchell, Terra, Zoe, Anthony, and Sophia, and his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Jimmy is preceded in death by the love of his life, Joyce, his son Jamie, parents Otto and Gladys, and siblings Billy Van and LaVelle.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on June 28, 2023, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Lakewood, CO.
A celebration of life will be held following the service at 1:00 pm at The Arvada Villa Italian Restaurant (a Nutt family favorite) at 9609 W. 57th Place, Arvada, CO.
