James (Jim) Stuart Meador, aged 95, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025. He attended primary school in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1948. Jim subsequently attended the University of Kentucky, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952. Additionally, in 1968, he was awarded a master’s degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Jim dedicated 30 years to the United States Air Force, serving in leadership roles across Georgia, Japan, Kentucky, Germany, Virginia, Ohio, Vietnam, North Dakota, Colorado, and California. He rose to the rank of Colonel and served his country honorably. He served in leadership positions during four campaigns in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit medals among others.
Following his distinguished military career, Jim embarked on a second career with Lockheed in Austin, where he continued to contribute his expertise and leadership.
Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Martha, his three children, five cherished grandchildren, as well as two great-grandchildren.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community. His legacy of service, integrity, and love will live on in those who knew and cherished him.
A service to honor Jim’s life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Austin, TX, with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org) or Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Austin, TX (www.shpc.org) in his memory.
