be with the Lord on July 5, 2010, in Conroe, Texas.
James was married to Olivia Pinedo, who has predeceased him. Their legacy
together includes daughters, Teresa Marie, who predeceased him, Delores Ferris, Mary
Frances Rodriguez, Olivia Martinez, Elizabeth Ann Zabawa, their husbands, 11
grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
James was in the Second Infantry Division, Second Medical Battalion. The
Second Division left Wales on May 18 in preparation for D-day. They landed with the
Allied Invasion Forces and began unloading operations on Omaha Beach in Normandy
on D-Day plus 1, June 7, 1944. James was a medic, and never carried a rifle. His only
protection was the Red Cross badge on his arm. All of the years of service to his country,
helped shape James to become a good husband, father and citizen.
James enjoyed watching Doris Day movies, reading the sports page, and
shopping. He also enjoys visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He
lived in Conroe Texas, assisted lovingly by Angela Ard and Hailey Lancaster, his loving
caregivers. The family wishes to thank them for all of their service and care.
The service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Ave. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
