Jack Gunderson was a man that could put everyone at ease with his corny jokes which were delivered with impeccable timing. His sense of humor was an important part of his salesmanship, which was his calling in life. From selling shoes, luggage, bingo chips to giant floating rubber tanks used by international oil companies, Jack’s ability to connect with his clients through his light- heartedness and humor was his most endearing trait.
Jack was nostalgic, and looked fondly on his years as a young man when both he and his twin
sister Jane were popular athletes and students. Shortly thereafter, came a defining experience
for Jack when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, saw action in Korea and mustered out as a Sergeant. For the rest of his life, he proudly embraced his service to our country.
Jack Gunderson was a loyal friend, parent, grandparent & dog lover who took special pride in making sure both his sons were thriving and safe. He ensured that his family and friends always received cards on birthdays and holidays, which were customized with stickers from his vast collection.
Throughout his life, Jack always felt comfortable with the rhythm of his daily schedule and this
predictability was something he embraced. “A hit man’s dream” he would often say, yet he
would always be pleasantly surprised when his routine was disrupted by a fishing trip to Canada or a relaxing time down in Florida. These trips were a great way to meet new people and try new types of local foods.
There are many stories to tell of Jack’s life such as his generosity, kindness, dogged
determination and his constant concern on how things were going in other’s lives. This can be encapsulated by my Dad’s last words to me. With a twinkle in his eye and a smile he said, “How’s business?”
