Jack Keith Ellison Jack Keith Ellison of Austin died Monday morning at his home in Northwest Austin. He was 88. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Paty Ellison, his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kathleen Ellison of Houston, his daughter, Jeannie Ellison, and his grandson, Blake, of Salt Lake City. Other relatives include the four children of his deceased sister, Hassie E. Carter, and their descendants. His nieces are Carolyn Hudspeth of Arlington, Abby Fowler of Spartanburg SC, and Joy Cary of Mesquite. His nephew is Jack Carter of Texarkana. He also leaves a first cousin, Billie Kleebauer of Quitman. Jack was the son of the late Odie Thornton Ellison and his wife, Etta Keeth. He was born and grew up in Detroit TX. He received his BBA degree with honors at the University of Texas in 1940. He later became a Certified Public Accountant. He was employed by what is now known as the Chevron Corporation. His assignments included locations in Louisiana, Colorado, and California, and at the time of his retirement, he was assistant comptroller of Chevron U.S.A., Inc. After retiring from Chevron in 1981 in California, he accepted a position with an independent oil company, Axem Resources, in Denver as its Chief Financial Officer, Vice-President and Treasurer. After retirement from that position, he and his wife moved to Austin in 1987. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and served as a volunteer with various organizations, including West Austin Caregivers and Austin Habitat for Humanity. He participated in the Tax Counseling Program for the Elderly, sponsored by AARP. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Salvation Army, Hospice, the service organization Sertoma, or a cause of the donor's choice.
