Irene was born January 13th, 1931, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Lauro Campoy and Dolores Haro. She grew up in Arizona and then moved to California, where she met and then married Rudy Acosta on February 27th, 1954. Their marriage blessed them with 3 children, Debra, Rudy Jr., and Monica. Irene will be remembered by family and friends for her spirit, her faith and love of God, and for her resounding love towards everyone. Her strength in overcoming many years of health challenges was a true testament to her faith and love of our Lord and the power of prayer. Irene loved gardening, she especially loved roses and irises. She loved music, food, and dancing, but most of all her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her ultimate pride and joy. She was everyone’s “grandma” not just to her grandchildren but to many friends and family. Irene was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Eugene, and her husband Rudy (2018). She is survived by her children, Debra (Mac) McKeever, Rudy Acosta, Jr., and Monica (Gary) LeRoy; grandchildren Dolores (Jason) Neufeld, Michael Acosta, Andrea (Brandon) Howard, Evan (Lindsey) LeRoy, Alexis (Alan) Goddard, Elizabeth Schull, and Robby (Kierstyn) Lambert; great grandchildren Lucas, Allison, Dominic, Carter, Dagan, Aria, Serenity, and Frankie; brothers Abraham Miguel Campoy, Peter Campoy, Leonel Campoy, and Lauro Campoy and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Memorial services and celebration of life mass will be held on Jan. 13th, 2022 at 11am at Nativity Catholic Church in El Monte, California in honor of her first heavenly birthday.
A private inurnment will be conducted at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
While her body is no longer earth side, we know that her spirit and love will bless us eternally. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Those that we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. They live on in the kindness they shared and through the love they brought into our lives.
May she rest in the arms and company of our Lord.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
