He was born October 2, 1950, in Taipei, Taiwan to Chung-Hua Tseng and Kuo-Hua Kuo. He married Wan Chi Shuai and they moved to the US, where he received his Ph. D from Princeton University in 1983. Afterwards, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he had a long and distinguished career at Motorola/Freescale and became the Chief Technologist of the Front End Processes Division at SEMATECH in 2006. He achieved one of his life-long goals and became an IEEE Fellow in 2008. He authored or co-authored more than 140 papers for professional journals and conferences in the semiconductor field. In 2009, he joined the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University as a professor.
Hsing-Huang was a loving husband and father, who highly valued family and education. He was an active member of the Austin Chinese Church and enjoyed reading, watching NBA games, performing Tai Chi, listening to classical music, and playing the flute.
Hsing-Huang is survived by his wife, Wan Chi; two children, Michael and Diane; mother Kuo-Hua Kuo; and brothers Hsing-I and Hsing-Cho.
A memorial service will be held at Austin Chinese Church (11118 Dessau Road Austin, TX 78754) this Saturday, August 11th, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society to support research for pancreatic cancer.
