Holton Olney Harvey, Jr. born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 25, 1934, and passed away on May 31, 2013 at the age of 79 in Austin, Texas. He was a loving Son, Father, Brother, and Uncle and a special friend to all who knew him. He was known by many as "Buster", "Sarge" or "Uncle Butt".
Holt started working as a Lumberjack in his early years. From there he went into the Army reserves. Then in 1954 he started his career of 24 years of active duties in the Army. Holt had two tours in Germany, two tours in Vietnam, 1 tour in Korea, and many years at Fort Knox, KY. , and others bases, then the family settled down in Austin, Texas at Camp Mabry where he retired on March 1, 1978 as a Master Sergeant. During his career of Active duties he received 3 Bronze Stars, and 3 Purple Hearts, and other commendation medals. From there he joined the Travis County Sherriff Department, as a Deputy Sherriff, badge # 102. After leaving the Travis County Sherriff Department, Holt went to work for "Flight Works" as a Welder, working on Light Aircraft. Were he enjoyed building Airplanes. He built his own Airplane and enjoyed flying it. He also have a love of playing Guitar, he tough himself how to play. And enjoyed working in his Garden, Fishing and Hunting and riding Motorcycles.
Holts survived by his Daughters, Andrea Harvey, Patricia Mungin and Sonja Anderson all of Germany; Son, Alvin Harvey of Connecticut; 4 Grandchildren, Jurgen Harvey, Julian Harvey, Sam Mungin, and Janias Anderson all of Germany; 1 Great-Grandchild, Ellen Findl of Germany; Brother, William "Bill" Harvey of Rhode Island; Sister, Kathleen Johnson of Connecticut; numerous Nieces and Nephews; Special Nieces, Janet Seffens of Florida and Karen Harvey of Austin; and a special friend, Brandi and her two little girls, Jade and Jolie.
Preceded him in death is his Father, Holton Olney Harvey Sr.; Mother, Theresa Harvey; 4 Brothers; Frederick, John, George and Edgar Harvey; 2 Sisters, Teresa Lowell and Carol Harvey; and Granddaughter, Patricia Harvey.
We would like to Thank all his friends at the VFW Post 8925, and the American Legion Post 83, were he was know for a life time. We would like to thank the Hill Country Home Health Care for their services and friendship. We would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at South Austin St. David Hospital for all the help and care they have given to Holt over the years.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas.
