Hettie Jo Kidd Brune of Pflugerville passed away on 5 August 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on 14 September 1931 in Texarkana, Texas, and graduated from Texarkana High School in 1948. She lived in Texarkana until she married.
Hettie worked and retired from the State Highway Department. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and Women's Auxiliary of the VFW. She volunteered for several years at The Old Bakery in downtown Austin and liked to do ceramics, make porcelain dolls, and loved making jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Royce Eugene Brune, her mother Pearl Hettie Payne, four brothers, and one sister.
Hettie is survived by daughters: Nancy Whitmore and husband Rodney, Doris Shields, and husband Marty, and Jodie Johnson and husband Mike; grandchildren: Ben, Allison, Mickey, Dicky, and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Madee, Rodney Gene, Nancy Jo, and Chandler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all caregivers at Wells Point Lodge Assisted Living, the medical staff at St. David’s Hospital, and the staff of Compassus-Hospice.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial service at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Visitation with the family begins at 9:30.
