As a young man and well into his adult life, he was a faithful employee to the Sandahl family (Pepsi Cola). He married Margie DeLeuil on May 6, 1955. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. He led all four of his children as they grew up into small entrepreneurships. Henry and his son started a full time vending business. After retiring from the vending business, Pastor AD Eberhart mentored him for many years. He later became an Ordained Pastor himself. Shepherded two different churches before retiring again (Black Jack Baptist Church of Caldwell, TX and Living Faith Baptist Church of Austin, TX.).
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Papa), great-grandfather (Paw) and uncle.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Evie Swofford, his sister Lillian Odessa Swofford Carlile, his brothers James, William, Joseph, George, and Jasper Swofford, and his wife Margie DeLeuil Swofford.
Henry is survived by his children; daughters Pam Petty (James), Vickey Smith (Eddie), and Celeste Dickerson (Mark); and sons, Henry Jr. (Janet), and Wayne; Beloved wife in Christ Liz (Elizabeth Crawford) and her children James Sisson, John Sisson, and Janet West, his 11 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
He loved his God, his family, his friends, and gathering together to celebrate life.

The Swofford family wishes to give all the people and staff of St. David’s Hospice Care and Buda Oaks Memory Care the deepest and most sincere thank you and appreciation for all you have done.
Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on South Congress Ave.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on South Congress Ave. with Chester Davis officiating.
Burial and Graveside Service will be at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr. after the service.
Following the burial, all those who knew Henry are invited to Westoak Woods Baptist Church, 2900 Slaughter Lane, for a catered meal and a time of remembering and celebrating Henry’s life and accomplishments.
