Helen Castillo

Helen Castillo, age 87 of Austin, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2007. She was born on April 26, 1920 in Waco, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Ascension Castillo; sister, Lucy Gutierrez; brother, Tony Castillo. Helen will forever be known as a great mother and wife and grandmother. She was always conscious of how long she was away from her husband and he of how long he was away from her. They were each others best friend. She not only raised two children but participated in the lives of her grandchildren and countless of nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing games, coloring, and doing arts and crafts with the kids. She will be forever in our hearts and the hearts of all who were fortunate to come to know her. She said her rosary daily. She prayed for all her family and for those who were in most need of help. She made a difference in the lives of all she came in contact with. Helen is survived by her husband of 68 years, who she loved dearly and would not miss a day of being by his side, Rufus Castillo; daughter, Michaela Villeneuve of Austin husband, Douglas; son, Rufus Castillo Jr. of Austin wife, Carolina; grandchildren: Brandon Jung Castillo, Colin Lee Villeneuve, Pilar Elena Villeneuve, Nicolas Valdivieso Castillo, Yvonne Milena Castillo; sisters, Mary Montez and Teresa Sanchez; brothers, Manuel Castillo, Peter Castillo, Lee Castillo, Joe Castillo; cousin, Mary Murillo; niece, Mary Alice Gutierrez. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church in memory of Helen Castillo. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Jung Castillo, Colin Lee Villeneuve, Nicolas Valdivieso Castillo, Jacob Adams, Adam Castillo and Chris Remington. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, April 30, 2007 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with Reverend Paul McCallum officiating.
