Hazel was born on November 9, 1929 in Austin Texas to parents Herbert and Julia Rehfeld. She graduated from Austin High in 1947 where she was an accomplished saxophone and clarinet player.
Hazel married Walter Eskew Jr, on March 23, 1947. They had three sons Herb Eskew of Spring Branch, Wayne Eskew and wife Shari of Dripping Springs and Gene Eskew and wife Carol of Driftwood.
After a 30 year career with IRS she then had a short career with Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
She loved hunting, the outdoors, spending time with her family, cooking and sewing. She was an amazing seamstress who sewed everyone’s name by hand on their Christmas stockings.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Julia Rehfeld, husband, Walter Junior Eskew; daughter in law, Sharman Eskew, brother, Joe Rehfeld, and great grandson Gage Eskew.
She is survived by sons Herb, Wayne and Shari, and Gene and Carol. As well as 5 grandchildren, 10 great children and 3 great great grandchildren.
She is now in heaven dancing with Walter to Charlie Pride and Ray Price songs.
