
It's been nearly 6 yrs. & surely I must write of some of my precious memories of you.  You were about 15 when I was born, and I was always following you around and pestering you, from what we both remembered, but I always knew you were very close & protective of me in your own way; many times shooing me away, but I remember the sharing, patient times as well.  The time you were raising little chicks in the well-constructed shelter you built for them, likely with Dad's help (or maybe not).  I remember the swing you hung for me and the place Dad & I went to feed you horse and cows when you were in the Army in Alaska.  Before that, I remember the yummy rolls you made, and how you went around the house when I was young on a Halloween night when the neighbor girl scratched on the kitchen window to frighten me & how you rounded the house and crept up on her and gave her back a good scare.  I remember that you never wanted me to visit you when you were in the hospital, not because you didn't care, but because you did.  I remember the things (a ivory ring with a piece of comb for the jewel & the bracelet,+) you brought home for me which the Eskimos had made.  Well, I remember the car accident you had & that I couldn't go to see you (rules at that time) at the military hospital.  I still have somewhere a Valentine card you made for me when I was very young.  Also how you warned me to stay clear of the Colorado River lest I drown.  You didn't like to show it, but I knew you were all as soft & tender-hearted as butter inside.  I remember you wedding & that you insisted on wearing your boots.  I remember when we first visited you, Joyce, & "Jimmie" Sue in a house on 51st (I think) just N of what used to be the airport.  I remember you bringing me vegetables from your garden the last time before you passed, and how much you wanted me to quit smoking, because later you had so much trouble breathing.  You & Jeff roofed our home last in the 70s, & our visits & your love & honesty.

Dear Johnson, Ballio,& Mann Families, The loss of a loved one is never easy. May the happy memories you have of your husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather fill you with some peace. Remember the happy times and know he will always be with you. Though his great grandsons Eric & Grey last saw him when they were younger they have memories they shared with their  little brothers Blaine and Trevor. Especially about his garden.
