Harold Rogers Watkins passed away on Jan 30th, 2024, succumbing to a longtime battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 80 years old.
Born in Athens, Georgia to Prince Archie Watkins and Mattie Lou Seay, he was the youngest of 5 kids.
Harold was drafted into the U.S. military at a young age and bravely served his country for over 20 years doing field artillery. After his retirement from the military he studied carpentry and woodworking. Later in life, he became an active member of the LDS church, where he enjoyed doing genealogy and temple work. In his retirement years, he studied vexillology and curated an extensive flag collection.
A kind man, loving husband and father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret T. Watkins in 2016. He is survived by his brother, Daniel Watkins; his sister, Madeline Luella Watkins; his children Teri M. Buchowski, Vincent R. Watkins, Christopher C. Watkins, Howell B. Watkins and Jennifer “Regina” Edwards; his step-children Timothy L. Cody, and Glenn A. Cody; and many grandchildren.
