Biography
Born in Henderson, Texas in 1934. Accepted Christ as my Savior during a revival at the Baptist Church in Arp, Texas at the age of 11 and was baptized with my twin sister, Madolyn.
Education/Vocation
Attended New London School, New London, TX and Snyder High School, Snyder, TX; graduating in 1952. Attended Texas Technological College in Lubbock, TX for two years. I married Bob and was a homemaker and mom. I worked outside of the home for Austin Independent School District finance office for 19 years, retiring in 1994. During these years, I was a Sunday School teacher for 4’s & 5’s, a VBS worker, Girl School leader, homeroom mother, Drill Team mother, chauffeur and attended numerous school activities.
Church Experience
As a teenager, I was active in youth groups in 1st Baptist Church, Snyder, TX. As an adult I have been a member of First Baptist Church, Silver Spring, MD; Twinbrook Baptist Church, Rockville, MD; Allandale Baptist Church, Austin, TX. God always found a place of service in each of these churches. After we moved to Cedar Park, it took us quite awhile to find the church where we knew God wanted us to be. Bob and I joined Anderson Mill Baptist Church in 1983. After the first visit we knew this would be our church home. I was a teacher for the ladies “Grace” Sunday School class, a member of the Sonshiners, Sew-Special Ladies Quilting Group, led a ceramics group, and attended a Joy of Living Bible Study which met in our church.
Family
Bob was my husband for 62 years before his death in 2016. Daughters: Deborah Gammill, Karen Holderby and fiancé Tom Clement, and Theresa Summervilles and son-in-law Frederick. Grandson Travis.
