Guadalupe “Lupe” Cuellar, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in Austin, Texas. She is now dancing with her beloved Tino in heaven. She was born in Lockhart, Texas, on September 28, 1932. In her childhood years, she attended Navarro Elementary School in Lockhart, and she also spent time as a migrant worker in states such as Indiana, California, and Texas. After getting married, Tino and Lupe spent time stationed in Germany and Oklahoma before returning to Austin to raise their family. Lupe enjoyed entertaining, dancing, and cooking. She was famous for her enchiladas and tamales.
During her years as a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Austin, she was a member of many community ministries including the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Golden Hearts. Also, in her later years Lupe was close to her grand dog Sandi, where you found one you would find the other. During her time as a resident of Legacy Oaks Assisted Living community, Lupe enjoyed crafting and playing bingo.
She is predeceased in death by her husband of 57 years, Augustine Cuellar, Jr. Survivors include sons, David Cuellar and wife Rhonda, and Tony Cuellar; daughters, Lena Stoops and husband Craig, Annette Blair and husband Patrick, and Christina Hoke, and husband Fred; sisters, Dolores Castilleja of Lockhart, Mary Ann Mireles from Kyle, Elida Gutierrez and Nicky Chapa from Austin; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M., Monday, September 18, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Drive. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 19, 2017, At St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
