Gordon Ross Johnson

He leaves to cherish his memory, Barbara, his wife and dearest friend of more than 54 years. He is also survived by his sons, Kemp Johnson and Neil Johnson (Priscilla Smith) and grandchildren, Morgan Johnson and Kyle Johnson.

As a young man, Gordon proudly served his country in the US Army. He then spent twenty years working for the State of Texas and for an additional twenty years, he served as Executive Director of the Sheriffs Association of Texas.

After his retirement in 1998, Gordon and Barbara spent many treasured times visiting our beautiful USA and traveled in all fifty states. Gordon loved his Lord, his family and his wonderful friends. Over his lifetime he built lasting friendships from his youth, through his personal, professional and retirement years, and especially through his church family.

Appreciation is expressed to his wonderful doctors, especially Dr. Ace Alsup and his nurse, Barbara, and Dr. Demetrius Loukas and his entire oncology team.

A memorial service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 8th of July 2013, in the Smith Chapel of Riverbend Church, 4214 North Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, Texas, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. The family will visit with those attending immediately prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests donations be made to the Senior Adult Program, Riverbend Church, 4214 North Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, Texas 78746 or your favorite charity.
