He is preceded by his beloved wife, Mary Evelyn Meyer Ivy. He is survived by his son, John Patrick Ivy and daughter-in-law, Karen Ivy, of Sugar Land. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Michelle Cottrell and husband, John Cottrell, of Austin and granddaughter, Candace Palmarozzi and husband Nick Palmarozzi, of Irving. He leaves behind a very special woman, Teddy Hoge.
Glenn was born in Sweetwater, TX. He entered Texas Tech on a tennis scholarship in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He returned to Texas Tech to play and coach tennis while completing a B.A. and an M.A.
In 1953 Glenn joined the Texas Research League. Over a period of 27 years, Glenn advanced to Research Director and was responsible for program and organization changes for agencies managing all the areas of Texas State government. On leave from the TRL, Glenn directed the Governor's Committee on Public School Education ("COPSE"), with recommendations affecting all Texas public schools. After completion of the study in 1970, Glenn returned to the TRL and completed his PhD. at the University of Texas.
Glenn retired and purchased the Courtyard Tennis Club in 1980. He owned and operated the Courtyard until 1997.
Services will be held at University United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012.
