G. Richard (Dick) Polk, age 80, passed away in his home in Austin, Texas on November 8, 2021, with his family by his side. Dick was born on January 6, 1941 in Austin, Texas.
He was a graduate of Austin High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas. After graduation, he moved to New York where he became a parole officer for the State of New York where he worked until his retirement in 2001.
Dick joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1963 achieving the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He retired from the USMC-R in 1992. He participated in international competitive police combat and private firearm competitions throughout his life.
He loved Texas BBQ and travel and leaves behind dear friends in near and far off places.
A private graveside service with military honors rendered by the USMC will be held on November 20, 2021 at Austin Memorial Park in Austin, Texas.
