George O. Lange, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 18, 2010. George was born to Robert and Hilda Lange in Olfen, Texas on September 23, 1927. George was one of nine children. After graduation, George enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II and entered the Army in 1950. He was a member of the Headquarters Company of the Third Battalion of the 17th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. For his service he was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service while performing his duties as operation chief in an exemplary manner. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. George married the love of his life, Louise Buckholt, on November 24, 1953, at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia, Texas. They lived in San Angelo for three years, and then made their home in Austin for the last 54 years. George and Louise have attended St. Louis Church since 1958. George was one of the founding members of the St. Louis Men's Club. George was a successful businessman, accountant, and real estate broker. George cherished his faith and his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise, his four daughters and their husbands: Julia and Don Adcock, Barbara and Jack Longmore all of Cedar Park; Jane and Marvin Meyer, Donna and Tim Hoff all of Westphalia; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one more due in May. He is also survived by two brothers and their wives, two sisters, one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a very special thank you for all the love and care given by Rhonda Ward, RN, FNP; Dr. John Hays, Claire Whitehead, MSN, NP and staff at the Seton Heart Center; Dr. Paul Le; and the Vista Care Hospice team. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday April 22, 2010 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be held at 3:00PM, Thursday at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Westphalia, Texas.
