George’s adolescent years were spent in Tyler TX and Athens, TX where he later graduated from Athens High School in 1972. George earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, an HBCU, in 1978, where he also pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He dedicated many years in the trucking industry with Central Freight Lines and ABF Freight Systems where he built a rewarding career before retiring.
George loved long phone calls and outings with his daughters and granddaughter. He loved playing dominos and card games well into the night with lifelong friends. He loved traveling, and golfing at any chance he could, and loved to make countless memories with all he loved. He hopes that others have learned from him, to help someone whenever they can, and remember him as the giving and easygoing person.
George Jr. is now at peace, joining his parents, George Glaspie, Sr. and Gloria Glaspie and his sister Keitha Raquel Ray, who have gone before him.
George remains in our hearts through the legacy of his vibrant and loving spirit. He is survived by his three daughters Pamela Glaspie, Anitra Glaspie, and Sarenah Glaspie; one granddaughter Teyanna Jones, whom he adored; three sisters Awana Abraham, Ava Glaspie, and Thalia Hunter (husband, Milton), and aunt Maxine Horton Beasley. George also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and friends.
