George Charles Glaspie, Jr. was born on July 16, 1954, to George Charles Glaspie, Sr., and Gloria Annette Horton Glaspie in Tyler, TX. George’s adolescent years were spent in Tyler, TX and Athens, TX then later graduated from Athens High School in 1972. George earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Huston-Tillotson University, an HBCU in Austin, Texas, in 1978, and pledged to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He dedicated many years in the trucking industry with Central Freight Lines and ABF Freight Systems where he retired from a rewarding career.
George remains in our hearts through the legacy of his vibrant and loving spirit. He spent his time on long phone calls or outings with his daughters and granddaughter, traveling, playing dominos or card games well into the night with lifelong friends, and golfing at any chance he could to make countless memories with his loved ones. He hopes that others have learned from him to help someone whenever they can, and to remember him as a giving and easygoing person.
George Jr. is now at peace, joining his parents, George Glaspie, Sr. and Gloria Glaspie, and his sister Keitha Raquel Ray, who have gone before him.
He is survived by his three daughters Pamela Glaspie, Anitra Glaspie, and Sarenah Glaspie; one granddaughter Teyanna Jones, whom he adored; three sisters Awana Abraham, Ava Glaspie, and Thalia Hunter (husband, Milton), and aunt Maxine Horton Beasley. George also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and friends.
