Gary Roth Chiles, age 59, passed away Monday March 12, at his home in Austin, TX. Gary was born May 10, 1947, in Alice, TX. Gary graduated in 1975 from the University of Texas Architecture School. He founded his own firm in 1987, which has become a leader in the design of high-quality multi-family apartments and condominiums throughout the southern US. Garys zest for life and youthful exuberance filled each day with the prospect of laughter and inspiration. Gary passions included waterskiing, music, cooking, and fine wine. He also enjoyed nature, and he spent entire weekends at his lake house. Nothing satisfied Garys creativity and work ethic more than a long day of physical labor. His day was fulfilled by a cruise in his boat, watching in awe as God painted the sunset and filled the sky with stars. Gary would then retire with a full belly and a revived spirit- only to start each day anew. Gary is survived by his loving wife Julie, son Michael, and daughter Jessica; his mother Elizabeth; brother Doug and wife Margaret; sister Dottie and husband Tom Muller. Also, Gary leaves behind numerous family members and friends who love him dearly. He is preceded by his father Harold M. Chiles. A memorial to celebrate Garys life will be held Saturday, March 17th, at 1:00 P.M. at Saint Andrews Upper School Chapel, 5901 Southwest Parkway, Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to M.D. Anderson: Glioblastoma unit or Childrens Cancer Center 800-525-5841. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
